Jared G. Mitovich is the 140th Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Pennsylvanian, a 501(c)(3) student-run media nonprofit that serves as the paper of record for Penn and University City, Philadelphia. He most recently covered the 2024 presidential election as a breaking news intern on POLITICO's national desk. Before that, he covered personal finance and economics news at CNBC and Yahoo Finance. At the Philadelphia Inquirer, he wrote data-driven investigative features during the heat of the 2022 midterm elections.

Jared’s political, financial, data-driven, and investigative reporting has been cited by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and CNN; and featured in Vanity Fair. His leadership of The Daily Pennsylvanian's coverage of Liz Magill's resignation from Penn and the university's leadership crisis earned a Student Keystone Media Association Award, two Associated College Press awards, and the Pacemaker award.

Jared began at The Daily Pennsylvanian as a staff reporter before leading our administration desk, honing in on the start of Magill's presidency and the controversies facing Penn law professor Amy Wax. He then ran the paper’s news department, guiding over 50 writers through campus turmoil culminating in Magill’s resignation. As editor-in-chief, Jared has focused on overhauling the paper’s digital content strategy to improve readers’ access to authoritative, accurate, and speedy journalism.

Jared is based in Philadelphia and studies political science and communication with a minor in data science and analytics at the University of Pennsylvania.
